Materva is a carbonated soft drink made from yerba mate, a tea popular in South America. Despite the somewhat bitter nature of yerba mate, Materva is sweet, with a flavor reminiscent of ginger ale or cream soda. Originally produced in Cuba, it has been manufactured in Miami since the 1960s by Cawy Bottling Company.
